Join us on Sunday, January 09, 2022 at 7:00pm Central for readings by featured poets Leonora Simonovis and Suzanne Underwood Rhodes. The reading will be preceded by a round of introductory community readings.

ACCESS NOTES: The reading will take place virtually via Zoom with Zoom auto captions, and an ASL interpreter will be present. Access copies of all poems will be provided via Google Docs.

FEATURED READERS:

Leonora Simonovis’s first poetry collection, Study of the Raft, is the winner of the 2021 Colorado Prize for Poetry. She is a bilingual poet, mother, and educator who grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, and currently lives in San Diego, CA. She received her MFA in Poetry at Antioch University, Los Angeles and teaches Latin American literature and creative writing in Spanish at the University of San Diego. Her work has appeared in Gargoyle, Kweli Journal, Diode Poetry Journal, Inverted Syntax, and the American Journal of Poetry, among others. She is currently interested in the connections between language and the land in the face of environmental challenges.

Suzanne Underwood Rhodes is a poet, writer and teacher living in Fayetteville. She’s the author of several books of poetry and lyrical prose, including her most recent, Flying Yellow (Paraclete Press). Her poems, which have been nominated for the Pushcart prize and have won several awards, appear frequently in journals, books, and anthologies, such as Slant, Image, Alaska Quarterly Review, Shenandoah, Christian Century, Words and Quilts, and others. Suzanne teaches virtual poetry workshops through the Muse Writers Center in Norfolk, Virginia, and serves on the executive board of the Poet’s Roundtable of Arkansas.
